ReplyDeleteHow do you calculate indirect utilities expenses for advertising?
ReplyDeleteThe Allocated Cost Numbers are from the totals area in the first part of the problem. Computed from Utilities Expense. The “14000” is the Total of all sqft used.
ReplyDeleteAdvertising:
Numerator (1,120sqft) ÷ Denominator (total sqft 14,000) = 8% x Utilities Expense ($64,000) = 5,120
Administrative:
Numerator (1,400sqft) ÷ Denominator (total sqft 14,000) = 10% x Utilities Expense ($64,000) = 6,400
**It also shows the totals on the last spreadsheet of the problem under “Advertising” – 23,120
“Administrative”- 31400.
